Chimney systems by code need to be installed once a transition through a combustible (roof or wall) is required. Once the transition to chimney is made the chimney system must be completed through to termination (chimney cap).

Avoid using 90* elbows when installing stove pipe

Avoid using 90* elbows when installing stove pipe. Use 45* elbows whenever possible for horizontal installations and 30* elbows for vertical installations. Doing so will ensure better draft.
