Chimney systems by code need to be installed once a transition through a combustible (roof or wall) is required. Once the transition to chimney is made the chimney system must be completed through to termination (chimney cap).

Make sure you have enough chimney

A rule of thumb for determining how much chimney you need for proper woodstove performance is to measure the distance from the bottom of the stove to the top of the chimney (cap) - you should have at least 15 feet.
